Program Note: This work amalgamates many genres to describe and explore the distractions and frustrations when practicing an instrument. A crossover into modern day disturbances within a musicians physical, visual and mental issues of practice. The work is about continuing to practice in spite of these distractions; environment, technology, music, people, drugs and the mental state of being. 2019 encourages the "on tap" effect. We can have everything we want now at the click of a button. However to overcome these distractions when practicing we enter a dreamlike state in which we can concentrate on just one activity for a short period of time which is rare yet beautiful in this 21st century life.
