1974: The Edmund Fitzgerald lost its 12,290-pound starboard anchor while docked in the Detroit River near Belle Isle.
1992: Divers located the anchor in the Detroit River, and it was recovered in May 1992.
1992-2025: Local news outlets, such as WDIV Channel 4, covered the recovery efforts and the anchor's subsequent cleaning and display at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle.
Present: The anchor is on permanent display outside the Dossin Great Lakes Museum and is a popular exhibit for those interested in the history of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
