Spirit of Texas was written for The Salvation Army New Jersey Youth Band, at my request, by Lt. Colonel Norman Bearcroft in 2004 for the band's trip to Texas that same year. A snappy litle march incorporating the tunes "The Yellow Rose of Texas" and "Deep in the Heart of Texas" which was used by the Youth Band to begin the second half of our concert program. It was played in various venues in Dallas and on the streets of Fort Worth and inside the gates of "Six Flags Over Texas". This was one of the more memorable trips during my tenure as Bandmaster of the NJYB...we had a terrific group of young people and enjoyed fantastic hospitality from our SA friends in Texas! Grateful to my good friend Kathleen Bearcroft for providing the score and parts need for me to record this video. Photos included were taken during our trip to Texas.
