Butterfly Stitch:
Row 1: k5, pull yarn to front, slip 5 sts off left needle, pull yarn loosely to the back over 5 slipped sts, repeat
Row 2 and every other row: Purl
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have 5 strands of yarn in the front of your work.
On the purl row after you've achieved 5 strands knit till you reach the butterfly stitch pattern, k2 to get to the center of your 5 sts, put your right needle in the front of your work and under through the 5 strands and up into your next purl stitch on your left needle, purl this stitch pulling the yarn through the 5 strands, continue purling and repeating this step until you've completed all your butterflies.
Repeat this whole pattern to continue the butterfly stitch. You can line them up in a row or stagger them, like in the video.
