Hail, hail, St Paul, hail great apostle of Christ
We now proclaim the greatness of your name
Rejoice in the triumph of your sacrifice
Your agonies, your tears, your pain
Following your footsteps, great St Paul
The Church now stands, proud and tall

His bitter enemy you were in ‘Saul’
His dearest friend you came to be in ‘Paul’
When His light shone on you that glorious day
Telling you what to do and say
A prophet to the world, a light to the nations
Giving your life, to Him who loved you,
Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

Beneath your fragile frame is Christ’s own fire
That brightly burned within, with love’s desire
That the world be saved and know the truth:
There’s salvation in Christ the Lord
And so your life you spent, your energy and strength
Giving your all, strong in your faith,
Steadfast to the end

Hardships of every kind did come your way
You braved them out for Christ, yes, come what may
And believing you are called before you’re born
Stood unfazed against sneer and scorn
Until that final day, beneath the gleaming sword
Claiming the prize, the crown of glory,
Your eternal reward
