Capitalism - An economic system concerned with the accumulation of capital essentially but its dynamic nature has had an overwhelming impact on the world since it's conception to the present day. It's a timeless character and the capacity to reinvent itself in the face of obstacles makes it necessary to understand it's multidimensional nature.
In this lecture, we have therefore tried to unravel its characteristics and trace its evolution.
A brief overview of this lecture includes -
1) Development of capitalism from the era of the Atlantic slave trade

2) Marking the different stages of European capitalism-: from commercial to industrial followed by finance capitalism.

3) Exploring the different faces of capitalism- ideological, societal, political

4) The three major challenges to capitalism: The First World War, The Russian Revolution, and the Great Depression (1929) and the resultant advent of Keynesian Economics.

After this comprehensive analysis, we then chart the ways in which capitalism has survived post the Second World War: via new institutions like the market, that forms the backbone of the globalized, neo-liberal economy. Simultaneously we also have to examine its implications for our society, polity, ecology, and culture.

पूंजीवाद - अनिवार्य रूप से पूंजी के संचय से संबंधित एक आर्थिक प्रणाली लेकिन इसकी गतिशील प्रकृति का दुनिया पर व्यापक प्रभाव पड़ा है क्योंकि यह वर्तमान समय के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। यह एक कालातीत चरित्र है और बाधाओं के सामने खुद को फिर से मजबूत करने की क्षमता इसे बहुआयामी बनाती है।
इस व्याख्यान में, इसलिए हमने इसकी विशेषताओं को जानने और इसके विकास का पता लगाने की कोशिश की है।
इस व्याख्यान में एक संक्षिप्त अवलोकन शामिल है -
1) अटलांटिक दास व्यापार के युग से पूंजीवाद का विकास

2) यूरोपीय पूंजीवाद के विभिन्न चरणों को चिह्नित करना: - वाणिज्यिक से औद्योगिक तक और उसके बाद वित्तयी पूंजीवाद।

3) पूंजीवाद के विभिन्न पहलुओं की खोज- वैचारिक, सामाजिक, राजनीतिक

4) पूंजीवाद के लिए तीन प्रमुख चुनौतियां: प्रथम विश्व युद्ध, रूसी क्रांति एवं महामंदी (1929)।

इस व्यापक विश्लेषण के बाद, हम फिर उन कारकों पर विचार करते हैं जिस कारन पूंजीवाद द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद जीवित रहा है: बाजार जैसे नए संस्थानों के माध्यम से, जो कि वैश्विक, नव-उदारवादी अर्थव्यवस्था की रीढ़ है। इसके साथ ही हमें अपने समाज, राजनीति, पारिस्थितिकी और संस्कृति के लिए इसके निहितार्थों की भी जांच करनी होगी।
