Lee Smith, National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Major League Baseball veteran, was in critical condition at Bassett Healthcare Network 1-800-BASSETT, requiring the use of an Getinge Intra Aortic Balloon Pump to keep his heart pumping.

He needed emergency transport to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital 1-800-NYP-STAT, but finding a MedEvac provider capable of handling the transport proved to be a significant challenge.

His complex condition necessitated continuous & precise monitoring and treatment throughout transport.

Once stabilized by NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital physicians, Mr. Lee Smith opted for a scheduled heart transplant at his primary care hospital Baylor Scott & White Health.
