2017 Ford Expedition Unboxing - What Makes It A Real SUV?

For today's unboxing review we have for you the 2017 Ford Expedition. Ever since the first generation was launched back in 1997, what's remained constant with the Expedition is its body-on-frame construction. In other words, it's not a crossover, like the Explorer, which is built on a car-based platform. The Expedition has remained true to its roots and will continue to do so in the years ahead. Our recent time with the 2017 Expedition left us impressed for the most part, with one major exception: a few too many hard (read: cheap) plastics inside. Aside from that, we loved its twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine actually replaced a naturally aspirated V8 that was not only less fuel efficient, but also less powerful (310 hp and 365 lb-ft).

Because the Expedition is bigger than the Explorer, it has a third row of seats that are fairly spacious. But we don't think people necessarily buy the Expedition for its three rows. No, because it's a genuine SUV with genuine off-road capabilities. Only a few years ago we were predicting that full-size SUVs like the Expedition were living on borrowed time, but because gas has become cheap again, the big SUV market is alive and well. Along with its 9,200 pound towing capacity, there isn't much the Expedition can't do. Enjoy the review!
