Wine Tasting and Bread with a Georgian Granny in Sighnaghi, Kakheti

Join me on a beautiful journey from Tbilisi to Sighnaghi, in the heart of Kakheti, the famous wine region of Georgia. Sighnaghi is often called the City of Love, not just for its romantic views over the Alazani Valley, but because people from all over the world come here to get married 24/7, with legally recognized marriages and no appointments needed!

Along the way, we stopped at Lilo Market, a lively local shopping spot just outside Tbilisi, perfect for picking up local goods. From there, we drove through the stunning Kakheti countryside, surrounded by vineyards, rolling green hills, and views of the Caucasus Mountains.

But the real highlight came in Sighnaghi, where we visited a local Georgian family and experienced true Georgian hospitality. A warm and welcoming Georgian granny invited us into her home and showed us how she makes Deda’s puri, a traditional Georgian bread baked in a clay oven.

We also got to watch the process of making churchkhela, a Georgian sweet made with grape juice, nuts, and natural ingredients. And of course, we tasted homemade Georgian wine and chacha, all made right there using the ancient qvevri method, fermenting grapes in clay vessels buried underground.
