Whitby Area. Heavy Snow - A171 Moor Road Whitby to Guisborough Nov 2025
Today I headed back up onto the North York Moors, this time to the legendary Blakey Ridge — and the snow did not disappoint.
The ride home was something else entirely. My snow tyres earned their keep, while car after car sat spinning helplessly from Danby through to Scaling Dam. By the time I reached the top of Skelder Bank, the snow was hammering down and the moors looked unreal.
I filmed the whole journey, and the descent from Skelder into Whitby tells the classic story: dramatic winter wonderland up top… and then, as always, Whitby refuses to join in. Snow fades, slush appears, and by the time you hit town it’s just rain again.
Still — an absolutely epic day on the moors.
