While venturing out with the fam for an offroad picnic, I realized my daughter was finally big enough to hop in the GX without using the running boards. When I got home, off they came! Made a quick how-to video and I show a side by side between a stock GX470 and my mildly modded 470. Does not take much to give these machines quite a bit more off-road capability over stock.
While I was discussing a few of my upgrades, I covered the air-bag sensor trick. Adding washers between the frame and sensor(s). Every 1/16th thick washer will lift the rear about .25". I do not recommend going more than 2" worth. Quick tip, add an extra washer to the drivers side to help level the ride with a full fuel tank. For those that want to keep bags (generally those of us that tow often) this is a simple way to gain some clearance when combined with 5100's or 6112's bilstein which feature an adjustable spring pre-load (gives lift).
