Hey kids! Its your good pal, Uncle Ben, here with a sweet jazz lick for Weekend Wankshop 126!
Today we are going to be looking at a sweet altered lick you can play over dominant chords. Dominant chords are the preferred playground of every jazz, country, gypsy, and funk player. There's a LOT of options of what you can play over them, and once you wrangle in the concepts of using the b9, #9, b5, and #5 notes, you can get some awesome "out" sounds to build tension... its controlled chaos! Guys like Jeff Beck, John McLaughlin, Pat Martino, and numerous other jazz and wester swing cats use the concepts all the time, and now so will you!
