Souq Waqif Walk | Doha, Qatar 🇶🇦

Souq Waqif (or Souq Wagif) which in Arabic means the “Standing Market”, was founded nearly 100 years ago and saw major renovation in 2006. It is well-known for the various shops selling garments, spices, handcrafts and souvenirs. The streets and alleys of Souq Waqif are dotted with numerous restaurants and cafes. There is also a pet area and a separate location for falcon handing which also features a falcon hospital.

Souq Waqif is bordered by Msheireb, a smart and sustainable district featuring residential, retail, and commercial services. The buildings in the area all Gold or Platinum LEED-certified. The area has world-class hotels and an open-air pedestrian square.

Souq Waqif has become the number 1 spot in Doha for football fans supporting their favorite teams, a trend that started in the World Cup 2022 and continues during the current Asian Cup 2024. There is a tunnel connecting Souq Waqif and Msheireb, linking the past and the present.

Walk Details: Evening walk starting from Msheireb area and heading towards Souq Waqif where I complete a short walk and end the video in the area adjoining both locations.
