Our final session of the year featured Mamo Mohapi from the C.S. Mott Foundation, who shared practical insight into how funders are approaching grant decisions today.
She noted that competition for resources has increased, and funders are placing more weight on clarity, accountability, and the ability to show credible, long-term impact. Technology is also shaping expectations, with digital presence and clear communication now influencing how organisations are seen and assessed. At the same time, donors are showing stronger interest in locally led organisations and the growing pool of African funders, corporate giving vehicles, and next-generation philanthropists.
