📜 About the poem and its significance
Written around 1878–1880, during the era of the League of Prizren and the broader movement of the Albanian National Awakening (Rilindja), “O moj Shqypni” is one of the most powerful calls for national unity and identity ever penned in Albanian.

In the poem, Vasa laments a divided homeland, which was torn apart by religious, regional, and political divides. He pleads with Albanians to rise above those divisions. His famous line “Feja e shqiptarit asht shqiptaria” (“The faith of the Albanian is Albanianism”) became a rallying cry for unity among Albanians of different faiths and regions.
More than a century later, this poem remains a timeless expression of Albanian patriotism: a reminder that unity, identity, and love for the homeland transcend creed, language, and borders.
