Restoring a 150 year old vise! // Metal Work

A few months ago, my friend Craig, blacksmith at The Barefoot Forge, flew up to Seattle to help me get my blacksmithing shop set up and functional so we could forge Damascus steel together, Craig's specialty. First things first: We needed to build a vise stand for my antique blacksmithing vise so we could twist some Damascus steel! In this video I show how we built a post vise stand using mostly found and recycled materials from around the homestead. Craig taught me how to mig weld a whole lot better than I had been in the past and I'm really pleased with how the stand came out. Craig and I had a fabulous week together and made a lot of other cool fixtures for my blacksmith shop too, all of which I was able to bring with me when we moved to Nashville so I'd have a head start on putting my blacksmith shop together here, so make sure you stay tuned to see them all in action in my new blacksmithing shop here in Nashville soon!
