The OPR facilitated a capacity building webinar for ‘named’ Procurement Officers (NPOs) on September 28, 2021 as part of a three-day session to roll out the Training Standards, Competence Levels & Certification Requirements, 2020 which is guided by section 13(1)(b) of the Act, which empowers the OPR to “set training standards, competence levels, and certification requirements to promote best practice in procurement”.
In setting the Standard, the OPR’s goal is to support the development of public procurement capacity, training, and dissemination of information, whilst ensuring the effective application of public procurement rules through appropriate mechanisms. The Standard identifies the knowledge, skills and competencies required of procurement practitioners in pursuit of workforce development, improved public confidence and a globally competitive public procurement system. The competence framework for public procurement was developed based on existing frameworks established by international counterparts in keeping with best practice and professional bodies.
Presenters for this webinar were Samantha Marchan and Melissa Ramkumarsingh, both Senior Capacity Development Specialists at the OPR.
Should you have any questions on the presentation, contact the OPR via email to feedback@opr.org.tt
