Converting from Microblading to Machine Method with Katy Jobbins

http://permanentmakeuptraining.co.uk : This is Natalie who came in yesterday to do some advanced training with Katy. You have already done microblading in the past, trained somewhere else, and now your doing a few days training one on one with Katy. So today we did a full set of brows and lips and it’s the first time you’ve used it with the machine method, so how was it doing it with the machine for the first time?

Amazin’? :) The difference that you can get with the colour with the machine compared to the manual it’s amazing.

And you also got to meet one of previous students, because she has just come in, had a baby herself. So was it nice to meet someone who has trained here in the past as well?

Yep. She was obviously very confident and is doing well. Progressive and the way she has been since she has left here she has been really happy with it. So it was nice to speak to someone whose trained with you.

And what has changed in you today? I know like you realised, the penny sort of dropped today, hasn’t it, and you really know where you want to go and I think one of the reasons you wanted to come here because you really wanted to be the best you possibly could at permanent makeup.

Yes, I’m quite competitive and if I’m going to do something I need to do it 110% at my best and be the best at it. It definitely nice to come here and learn the best skills I possibly can and I think today it’s really nailed it in that this is what I really want to do and I want to get all the training I can, absorb everything, watch all the videos, our conversation with you today all about the marketing videos and stuff.

We had an extended lunch break and we went through some of the business side of things as well, and you realised how, because you’ve obviously being running your business for about 6 months now and now you’ve realised where you want to take it to the next level and has that sort of helped over lunch time today.

Yes, massively. I don’t think you can re-iterate how important it is. You know you can be amazing at something and be fantastic and have a good client base but unless you know how to market that and get yourself out there and having someone like you that has taken out the errors,

Well we not necessarily taken out,

But you have done the trial and error to be a good place to start with and see what works for myself. So you can be fantastic at anything but unless you know how to promote yourself it’s no use.

That’s it, and even if you are really busy, like at the moment you are quite busy any way but you have realised that you know you are not quite charging as much as you could be and also where the future lies and that you can focus on the quality of service and also may be earn more per hour as a result of that as well.

Yes, definitely I have established since I’ve been here that I am under cutting myself and my quality of work is very good and it’s only going to get better. In essence if I can charge more because I’m providing a better service then I can do that. So, ultimately it gives me more time to spend with my children and more free time and earn what I should be earning for the level that I’m working at.

Exactly, and also I think a lot of people cocoon themselves into getting clients from one type of business or one type of area like facebook or instagram, what ever it may be, and obviously going through like the business and marketing mentoring support that we offer a lot of our students, which obviously you are coming along with as well, did it open up your eyes up to maybe some new avenues of where you can actually get clients from as well.

Yes, massively. I mean I don’t have a massive sort of idea on marketing because I haven’t done any marketing myself. Obviously little bits n bobs for my business, but to go into the depth that you have gone into today and given me ideas I wouldn’t of even thought of and how much that can impact my business was incredible.
