Released in 1987, the NEC PC Engine is a console that - depending who you ask - is either an 8-bit or 16-bit machine. What's not disputed, however, is that the PC Engine CD Rom2 add-on was the first-ever CD-based video game platform. And, after over a decade of success in Japan and a few years of being a complete flop in North America, the CD Rom2 (pronounced "CD Rom Rom") is perhaps one of the weirdest retro gaming platforms out there!
