Hi friends in this video I'll show you how to construct a line parallel to a given line that passes through a given point with compass and straightedge or ruler.

In this tutorial I show you three common methods for constructing parallel lines.

1) Parallel lines with Rhombus method:
This construction works by creating a rhombus. Since we know that the opposite sides of a rhombus are parallel, then we have created the desired parallel line. This construction is easier than the traditional angle copy method since it is done with just a single compass setting.

2) Parallel lines with angle copy method:
It is called the 'angle copy method' because it works by using the fact that a transverse line drawn across two parallel lines creates pairs of equal corresponding angles. It uses this in reverse - by creating two equal corresponding angles, it can create the parallel lines.

3) Simple method for parallel lines:
As simple as its name this is very easy method for drawing parallel lines. but its useless method because you can't put required distance between lines, but its used for parallel sign.

this method consists on two 60 degree angles. we draw first arc and bisect with the same compass so both bisects are equal and lines too.
