Jacksonville University College of Law: Building a Legacy

In 2024, Jacksonville University embarked on a journey to establish its law school campus where the institution was founded in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. In one of the largest historic adaptive re-use renovation projects in recent years, the Jacksonville University College of Law created a physical space for its campus that reflected its values in legal education.

After an exhaustive search, the University landed on the 115-year-old former Atlantic National Bank building, once the tallest building in Florida. The renovation honored the building’s history while transforming it into a modern learning community that comes to life as law students, faculty, staff and the local legal community collaborate in state-of-the-art classrooms and vibrant common spaces. The law school sits in the heart of the legal community, steps from the state and federal courthouses, the U.S. and state attorneys and public defender offices, the Office of General Counsel for the city, legal aid clinics, as well as the greatest concentration of private law firms corporate law departments in the region.

Founded with the vision of integrating law students into the legal profession from the moment they begin their studies, students learn the law in the classroom while simultaneously witnessing the law in practice. The only law school in Florida whose location enables this immersive approach to legal education, JU College of Law prepares law students who are highly capable, adaptable, ethically grounded, and prepared for the profession.
