“Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1723 as part of his cantata “Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben”(BWV 147).
Bach originally wrote the cantata in Weimar in 1716, but he revised and expanded it in Leipzig in 1723.
The piece we know today as “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” is actually the 10th movement (a chorale) of this cantata. The English title comes from a 1926 translation by Robert Bridges; Bach himself titled the work in German.
This arrangement for low G ukulele is by Jeff Peterson (@UkuleleCorner).
Thanks so much for listening 🌺🎶🙏
