Kabul Zoo - باغ وحش کابل (ژوبڼ)

🦁 Kabul Zoo, located in District 3 of Kabul near the Kabul River and Deh Mazang Circle, has been a significant recreational and educational site since its opening in 1967. Despite enduring decades of conflict, the zoo remains a popular destination for families and tourists, attracting over a million visitors annually.

🦁 Recent Developments
• New Lions: Four African lions were recently rescued from smugglers at the Spin Boldak border and have been relocated to Kabul Zoo. These lions had been kept in small cages and arrived with injuries, but are now recovering.
• Animal Collection: The zoo currently houses over 100 species of animals, including lions, tigers, bears, birds, and reptiles. It serves both as a conservation and educational center.

🏞️ Zoo Relocation Plans
The Afghan Ministry of Urban Development and Housing announced plans to relocate Kabul Zoo outside the city to reduce traffic congestion and improve visitor experience. Potential new locations include Dehsabz, Paghman, Bagrami, and Chahar Asiab. The decision is expected to be finalized after Eid al-Adha.
