In this tutorial, I demonstrate a CFD simulation of the Flat Plate Boundary Layer using ANSYS Fluent and compare results with Blasius theory.
The study covers both visualization and theoretical validation of boundary layer flow:
The workflow includes:
• Setting up 2D channel flow geometry and mesh
• Applying boundary conditions
🔹 Post-Processing Results Include:
• Pressure Contour visualization
• Velocity Contour visualization
• Velocity Vectors representation
• Predominantly Streamwise Velocity Assumption
• Thin Shear Layer Assumption (Large transverse gradients vs streamwise gradients)
• Velocity Profiles expressed in terms of Blasius similarity variables (η vs u/U)

This simulation helps explain the fundamentals of laminar boundary layer theory, making it useful for both students and researchers in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.
