The Isuzu D-MAX is living proof that time helps improve the breed. Rated one of the best dual-cab 4x4 utes available when the third generation launched in 2020, it has received several updates since then.

For 2024 the process has been quite substantial with the D-MAX’s design, tech and safety features all receiving attention. Oh yeah, prices have gone up between $500 and $3000 as well.

The comprehensive D-MAX range continues to be capped by the flagship X-Terrain we’re testing here, which has added its own improvements on top of what the rest of the range gets.

All these changes add up to be quite a significant upgrade that runs more than skin deep, but whether they can maintain the D-MAX’s place in the pecking order at the top of the ute segment is another question.
