Atventurist-tours presents: Sørdal-tunnelen (Sördal tunnel, Norway)
Check out this amazing tunnel from Norway!
Wikipedia:
Sørdalstunnelen is a road tunnel on Europavei 10 on Hinnøya . It is 6,338 meters long (of which 400 meters in Troms [2] ) and is the longest of the tunnels in Lofoten's mainland connection ( Lofast ).
The tunnel runs between Sørdalen in Kvæfjord municipality in Troms and Øksfjorden in Lødingen municipality in Nordland . The tunnel was operated only from the Sørdal side. The blasting of the tunnel started on 12 January 2004 , and the breakthrough on the Øksfjord side came on 20 July 2006 . The tunnel work was delayed by four months due to a lot of water entering the tunnel during construction.
The tunnel is 8.5 meters wide. The difference in height between the openings in Sørdalen (120 m above sea level ) and at Øksfjorden (30 m above sea level) is 90 metres. The Sørdal tunnel was opened together with the rest of the eastern part of Lofast on 1 December 2007 .
This is a short video, from atventurist-tours 2024. We were with Hilux and Kabe (caravan-trailer) in Norway (Lofoten), but also in northern Sweden and Finland. Such beautiful places!
