Welcome back to PIM Academy!
In this episode, we tackle a question many businesses ask before committing to a project:
How long does it take to implement a PIM system?
As with most good answers in tech: it depends 😉
But don’t worry – we’ll break it down clearly.
A full PIM implementation includes 3 key phases:
1. Pre-implementation analysis
A 2-month discovery phase to define requirements, map processes, and build a realistic roadmap and budget.
2. System implementation
Typically takes 3 to 6 months. This phase includes:
Kick-off & system setup
Data model design
Building integrations (e.g. ERP, ecommerce)
Data migration
User training & testing
Optional custom features
3. Post-go-live maintenance & optimization
This is a long-term phase where your PIM becomes part of your system architecture. Expect to refine integrations, onboard new users, and scale the platform over time.
⏳ Estimated duration:
From our experience, a full PIM project takes 5–12 months, depending on project size, data maturity, and organizational engagement.
