Using a large percussion ensemble as its "soloist", the Concerto for Percussion and Wind Ensemble is a heavy hitter for 9 percussionists. Cast in several sections, this work usually pits the soloists against the ensemble. An opening aleatoric section introduces many of the motives of the work. The final large section is an energetic and aggressive scherzo, followed by a powerful coda.
