As I'm about to leave Kerala I offer my honest opinion of the place after five weeks of traveling part of this region of India.
I also speak Pramod who is a local man that spent almost fifteen years in U.A.E. working to secure his future before returning to Varkala having attained a certain level of financial security.
Martyn is a New Zealand man I spend time with who has found himself visiting India a lot since nineteen ninety seven drawn to the alternative medicine of Ayurveda which is practiced and taught in Varkala.
There's also a group of college students visiting Varkala who explain their hopes and ideas for their futures which range from businesses to babies.
We chat with a German woman who moved to India at the age of thirty nine and has recently started a small business right on the beach of Varkala.
A young woman has her fortune told by an old man who can see into the future, and I meet a viewer named Peter who introduces himself while I'm enjoying a coffee in a cafe run by a group of employees who are all deaf.
I also tell a story of finding myself at a deaf party where one hundred people cominicate in silence.
