With the winter now well behind us, we have the run of the Smooth hound's to enjoy, a fish which is native to New Zealand and Australian estuaries, they feed on crab, prawn, crustations and ragworm.
For most of the UK anglers this will be the hardest fighting fish they will encounter. We fished a Somerset reef mark in a strong westerly wind and was rewarded with two fine fish, the biggest being 12lb 4oz
