Raga Jog is a Hindustani raaga that has become popular in recent decades. It is believed to have been created by Mehbub Khan of Atrauli.
Features
Raga Jog is pentatonic, meaning it omits the second and sixth intervals, Ri and Dha.
It uses Shuddha Ga in ascending and Komal Ga in descending.
The most popular version uses both the Gandhaars (G and g) and Komal Nishaad (n).
The other version uses Shuddh Nishad (N) as well.
History
Raga Jog is based on Raga Tilang, which is derived from Khamaj thaat.
The Hindus considered ragas to be a manifestation of the divine, treating each musical note as a god or goddess.
