Winter Trout Fly Fishing Tactics - a trip to Rosslynlee Fishery

In my first ever YouTube video I wanted to cover some basic Winter Trout Fly Fishing tactics, and I visited my local stillwater Rosslynlee Fishery.

I set up 3 rods to save a bit of time whilst fishing, and to ensure I could change tactics quickly when needed, which I find is useful in winter.

I had the following rods set up:

6 weight - rio aqualux 2 intermediate
7 weight - orvis pro floating line
8 weight - airflo sixth sense di5 sinking line

I only cover a few tactics in this video, and I do intend to cover a lot more detail in future videos, however as you can see from the video each tactic I try does manage to bag a fish.

Future videos will include both bank and boat stillwater trout fishing, and I am also interested in testing out some ideas and challenges along the way. I'm thinking things like lures v naturals all day to test out the theory that lures perform better for the first hour or two then naturals thereafter. And testing flies against each other to see if one performs better - crunchers vs diawl bachs, sedge vs klink on dries, pheasant tail nymph vs hares ear, snake vs humoungous etc… switching every 15 mins for a set time to ensure fair results. Just for a bit of fun.

I do enjoy fly tying too, so I may add a few videos of how to tie flies that have been successful in videos or flies I know will catch, and I can maybe tie a few full boxes and have a giveaway now and then.

I have never really fished on rivers, and this is something I am very keen to try in the future, and I will include videos when this happens.

I hope you enjoyed video 1, but I am new to filming and bear with me whilst I get used to it and upgrade my equipment along the way!
