Stockton and Darlington Locomotion No. 1, 1975 built working replica, has spent a large proportion of the year located at the Weardale Railway at Wolsingham in Durham, where it went loaded test runs with its new replica train of new Chaldron waggons and carriage "Experiment" in readiness for its starring role on the mainline between Shildon, Darlington and Stockton from the 26th to 28th of September 2025.
27th September 2025 marks 200 years since Locomotion No. 1s inaugural run on the Stockton and Darlington Railway and this event is seen as the birth of the modern railway.
