Char dham yatra | Yamunotri dham trek 2025 | yamunotri yatra vlog #yamunotri
Yamunotri Dham is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India, at an altitude of about 3,293 meters (10,804 ft). It is the source of the Yamuna River and dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, represented by a black marble idol in the Yamunotri Temple built in 1839 by King Sundarshan Shah of Tehri Garhwal.
Yamunotri is one of the four sites of the Char Dham pilgrimage in Uttarakhand, along with Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The temple is located near hot water springs such as Surya Kund, where devotees cook rice and potatoes as offerings.
Access to Yamunotri involves a trek of about 6-13 km from nearby points like Janki Chatti or Hanuman Chatti, with options for horse or palanquin rides. The nearest airport and railway station are in Dehradun, about 200 km away, with road connectivity via Barkot and Uttarkashi.
The actual source of the Yamuna River is a glacier (Champasar Glacier) higher up at 4,421 meters, which is generally not accessible to pilgrims.
In summary, Yamunotri Dham is a revered Himalayan shrine and the origin of the Yamuna River, featuring a historic temple, natural hot springs, and challenging trekking routes, making it a key spiritual and trekking destination in Uttarakhand
