Madras High Court Judge Swaminathan's position is in danger because 107 MPs have signed the impeachment motion. Congress's Priyanka Gandhi, DMK MP Kanimozhi, Congress's Gaurav Gogoi, SP's Akhilesh Yadav, NCP's Supriya Sule, and AIMIM's Owaisi have filed notices against Justice Swaminathan. On December 1st, Justice Swaminathan heard a petition, and the political controversy deepened after his decision. The decision stated that it was the duty of the Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple to light lamps at the Deepathun (stone lamp post) on the Tirupparankundram hill near the dargah. When officials refused permission, a single bench issued another order on December 3rd, allowing devotees to light lamps themselves. CISF was directed to ensure their security.
