Tone Comparison on a Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded from 2007.
Trying the all original stock parts against "vintage correct" parts and materials, with Mojotone's Limited Edition Premium Historic 59' PAF pickups!
New parts also include:
Creamtone's Tailpiece made with light aluminum, and their Bridge made with aluminum, the three low strings have Brass saddles (as they would've had in the late 50's) and the top three strings have Nylon saddles as I like the way it sounds (and so did Clapton, and so does Bonamassa). CTS 500K Audio Taper pots, 18ga Silvered Copper Wire.
.047 Sprague Vitamin Q Paper in Oil Capacitor in the bridge (I know the originals had .022 but I like .047).
.015 K40Y-9 Russian Paper in Oil Capacitor in the neck (for that woman tone).
Guitar is strung with DR Pure Blues 10-46 gauge nickel strings, and tuned to Eb.
First two clips the guitar is plugged straight into my vintage Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 100 watt head going into a 4X12 speaker cab with Vintage 30's.
Miced with an SM57 and a Sennheiser e609 straight on the speaker cones.
Second two clips the guitar is plugged into my Avid Eleven Rack and I'm using the preset Lead 800 Rhythm (basically a Marshall JCM800). I think the difference is heard even more hear.
What do you think sounds the best, original modern Gibson parts and pickups, or the Vintage Correct parts and materials with the Mojotone Premium Historic 59' PAF set?
I'm playing the solo from the song 'Taste The Riches' by my band Electric Revival.
