বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বাংলাদেশের বরিশালে অবস্থিত একটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। এটি দেশের ৩৩তম সরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। ২০১১ সালের ২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর স্থাপন ও ২০১২ সালের ২৪ জানুয়ারি শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বরিশাল বিভাগে প্রতিষ্ঠিত প্রথম সাধারণ সরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। প্রতিষ্ঠার সময় ২০১১-১২ শিক্ষাবর্ষে ৬টি বিষয়ে স্নাতক পর্যায়ের শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম দিয়ে যাত্রা শুরু করে। বর্তমানে এতে ২৫টি বিভাগে স্নাতক ও সমাজকর্ম ব্যতীত বাকি ২৪টি বিভাগে স্নাতকোত্তর পর্যায়ের শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম প্রদান করছে।

বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ২০২৩-২০২৪ শিক্ষাবর্ষে স্নাতক (সম্মান) শ্রেণির ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় ৬টি অনুষদের অধীন ২৫টি বিভাগে আসন সংখ্যা ১৫৭০টি। বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ক্যাম্পাস বরিশাল সদর উপজেলার চরকাউয়া ইউনিয়নের কর্ণকাঠিতে কীর্তনখোলা নদীর তীরে শহীদ আবদুর রব সেরনিয়াবাত সেতু সংলগ্ন ঢাকা-পটুয়াখালী মহাসড়কের পাশে অবস্থিত। ২০২৪ সালের এক সিন্ডিকেট সভায় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টিতে শিক্ষার সুষ্ঠু পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে সকল প্রকার ছাত্র এবং শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী রাজনীতি নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়েছে।
