SITUATION: A 125 mm thick slab has the following specifications:
fc’ = 27.5 MPa
Clear cover = 20 mm
fy = 275 MPa for 12 mm and 10 mm bars
fy = 413 MPa for 16 mm bars
Use strength reduction factor for flexure = 0.90
1. Determine the ultimate flexural strength (kN-m) of the slab if it is reinforced with 10 mm bars spaced at 125 mm center to center.
