Welcome back to We Only Make Chaos! In Episode 5, we take a radical approach to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) by adopting the perspective of the machine itself.
This episode explores the core schizoanalytic concept of the Desiring-Machine—an apparatus defined purely by its function, flows, and breaks, operating outside of human subjectivity.
The Flow and The Cut: We analyze the chainsaw as a non-human desiring-machine whose sole purpose is to connect the flows of gasoline, speed, and noise to the breaks (the resistance of flesh and bone).
Deterritorialization by Friction: The machine's constant cutting functions as a force of Deterritorialization, dissolving the Territory of the house and reducing the human Organism to its raw, disassembled state (the BwO).
The Assemblage: We decode the symbiotic relationship between Leatherface (the motor/operator) and the machine (the flow/subject).
