Runway Showdown 2nd Session | Virthli 2025

The Mizoram University Students’ Council, along with the Organizing Members, successfully hosted the Virthli Runway Showdown 2025 on the fifth day of Virthli, Wednesday, April 4th. This inter-departmental competition at Mizoram University was judged based on two themes— Pop Culture Through The Ages and As You Like It —with students displaying their creativity, stage presence, and time management skills.


The event was hosted by Mr. F. Nghakliana and Ms. Vanlallawmkimi, who captivated the audience with their engaging presence and seamless coordination throughout the evening.


The event commenced with the introduction of the judging panel, which included renowned designers Rinhlui Chhangte, Benjamin Ralte, and Zosangzuali, alongside model-actress Nunui Rualhleng and Mizoram University faculty member Prof. Ruth Lalremruati. Sponsored primarily by LBS Suzuki, the competition was enlivened by performances from artists J. Lalrosanga, Aengi/Rosalyn, and Siampuii Ralte.


A special highlight of the event was a collaboration with Mizoram’s top designer Escape Engmawia, whose showcase followed the competition. His showstopper, Urfi Javed, became the center of attention, adding to the spectacle.


Among the five competing departments, the Department of Planning & Architecture claimed the winner’s title, followed by the Department of Education as 1st runners-up and the Department of English & Culture Studies as 2nd runners-up. Additionally, the Best Male and Female Model, H. Vanlallawmkima and Clara Lalrohluii, were recognized with awards sponsored by MZU’s Alumni Association.


With its electrifying performances and outstanding display of talent, creativity, and charisma, the Virthli Runway Showdown 2025 was a resounding success.
