It has come to public attention that the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) has requested a list from Mr. Lansana Dumbuya, the former National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, demanding the submission of names of supposed flagbearers for the 2028 elections. This request raises serious questions and concerns.
The clear intention behind this move, in the view of many grassroots supporters, is to create unnecessary confusion and diversion—shifting attention away from the critical issue of electoral justice. By promoting discussions around flagbearership at this time, the PPRC appears to be attempting to silence or weaken the growing demand for accountability and justice in the electoral process.
Mr. Chairman, it is important to state clearly that you are misleading the former APC executive members, who are no longer recognized as legitimate executives, as their tenure has long expired. Any engagement with them on such sensitive matters lacks both legal and moral justification.
Therefore, the public should not be surprised by statements coming from Mr. Lansana Dumbuya, the former and widely discredited APC Secretary General, whose utterances no longer carry authority or relevance within the party’s legitimate structures.
Furthermore, the recent message delivered by President Julius Maada Bio was empty and devoid of meaningful action. It is unreasonable to expect patriotic Sierra Leoneans to dress in white as a symbol of peace or reflection, after the people have been deprived of justice and dignity. You cannot oppress a population and then ask them to sacrifice the few remaining freedoms they hold.
