2018 belonged to this track, ‘Losing It’ by Australia’s Fisher. Love it or loathe it if you went anywhere near a club for the next few years you'd be bound to hear this.
For me, the definitive version is Fatboy Slim's mashup between this and Childish Gambino.

I've tried to recreate the original edit for this version. Maybe something to try for the future ;)
I’ve been tinkering with a version of this on my Circuit Tracks for some time and finding two presets on the Ableton Move that filled a couple of gaps meant it just had to make an appearance on this version.
Everything you hear was sequenced into the Circuit Tracks and this is playing all of the parts apart from the squelchy upper bass sound and the ‘foghorn’ brass chords. The Ableton Move was routed into the Tracks and then just recorded straight without any further instruments or effects.
The Move is new to me and I’m still learning how to make full tracks on it so this might be a format you see me do a few videos on. I hope you like it and stay tuned for more!
More details for synth nerds.
As above it was fortuitous that the Move has two presets that with a small amount of tweaking, worked well on the track. The Move in this instance did no sequencing but was used merely as a MIDI instrument for two of the parts (played on MIDI1 & MIDI2 on the Tracks).
Circuit Tracks
BPM 125bpm, swing 54
Synth 1 – distorted ‘organ’ patch with variable fast chorus to emulate the repeating ‘alarm’ type sound.
Synth 2 – filtered bass patch
MIDI 1 – playing MIDI channel 3 on the MOVE ‘FM Pluck Bass’ FM-synth model with increased resonance and filter.
MIDI 2 – playing MIDI channel 4 on the MOVE “Ac Brass Strong’ polyphonic sampler with saturation/reverb to recreate ‘foghorn’
Drum 1 – 707 bass drum
Drum 2 – 909 hihat and open hat
Drum 3 – 909 snare and claps
Drum 4 – ‘riser’ sample from Apple library and snatch of stem-separated vocal.
The mix isn’t quite right yet. Hopefully I can carry on working on this to do a completely MOVE version. Till then I was pleased with how this has taken shape so far and will definitely do more Tracks & Move ‘double acts’. Pop any questions in the comments below and thanks for watching.
