The Art of Thyroid Disease: Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, Thyroiditis, Diagnosis, and Treatments

Hello everyone! I thought it would be interesting to talk a little more about thyroid disease! As a primary care doctor, I help treat and manage thyroid disease all the time and thought I would share some of my experiences and some of the science behind the medicine and healthcare.

In this series I'll discuss the epidemiology of thyroid disease; what the thyroid does and how it works; how doctors typically test and screen for thyroid disease; what subclinical thyroid disease is and what to do about it; what my own experience has been like with hypothyroidism and getting diagnosed; thyroiditis and the most common causes of thyroiditis; the three stages of thyroiditis; the different causes of hypothyroidism, the symptoms of hypothyroidism, and how to treat hypothyroidism; hyperthyroidism, it's symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments; and of course, my inspiration for drawing this optical-illusion based piece of art and my thoughts on the design, the background, my method, and my final thoughts on the end result!
