Throughout the midbrain posterior to the periaqueductal grey matter we have the tectum mesencephali ( which is one of the three subdivisions of the midbrain).
The other two subdivions are the crus cerebri located in the anterolateral part of the midbrain and the tegmentum mesencephali which is located inbetween tectum and crus cerebri.
