Via Dolorosa 4K Virtual Walking Tour In Jerusalem, Israel
Station 1: Jesus is Condemned to Death
Where Pontius Pilate sentenced Jesus at the Church of the Condemnation in Jerusalem’s Old City. This sacred site marks the beginning of the Via Dolorosa path.
Station 2: Jesus Takes His Cross
At the second station just outside the Church of the Flagellation, Jesus accepted the heavy wooden cross after being brutally scourged by Roman soldiers. The chapel’s striking crown-of-thorns dome reminds visitors of Christ’s suffering as He began His final walk to Calvary.
Station 3: Jesus Falls the First Time
The Polish Chapel marks where Jesus stumbled under the cross’s crushing weight. Located where the Via Dolorosa turns sharply uphill, this station shows the physical toll of Christ’s passion on the stone streets of ancient Jerusalem.
Station 4: Jesus Meets His Mother Mary
The Armenian Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Spasm commemorates where a grieving Mary saw her son carrying the cross. A beautiful 5th-century mosaic marks this emotional encounter along the Via Dolorosa route in the Muslim Quarter.
Station 5: Simon of Cyrene Helps Carry the Cross
A carved Roman arch and Franciscan chapel mark where Simon, an African pilgrim, was forced to help Jesus carry the cross.
Station 6: Veronica Wipes Jesus’ Face
The Chapel of the Holy Face honors Veronica’s courageous act of wiping Jesus’ bloody face.
Station 7: Jesus Falls the Second Time
At the busy intersection with Khan al-Zeit market street, Jesus collapsed again under the cross’s weight.
Station 8: Jesus Speaks to the Women of Jerusalem
A Greek Orthodox monastery marks where Jesus told weeping women to mourn for themselves and their children. His words from Luke 23:28 still echo through this quiet corner of Jerusalem’s Old City.
Station 9: Jesus Falls the Third Time
Near the entrance to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jesus fell a final time just short of Calvary. The Coptic Patriarchate here preserves the memory of Christ’s complete exhaustion before His crucifixion.
Station 10: Jesus is Stripped of His Garments
Inside the Holy Sepulchre courtyard, pilgrims see where Roman soldiers took Jesus’ clothes before nailing Him to the cross. This humiliation fulfilled Psalm 22’s prophecy about the Messiah’s suffering.
Station 11: Jesus is Nailed to the Cross
At Latin Calvary within the Holy Sepulchre, a silver altar marks where Jesus was crucified. Visitors can touch the rock of Golgotha beneath the altar and see the crack from Matthew’s earthquake.
Station 12: Jesus Dies on the Cross
The Greek Orthodox altar at Calvary commemorates Christ’s final words before dying.
Station 13: Jesus’ Body is Taken Down
The Stone of Anointing just inside the Holy Sepulchre entrance marks where Jesus’ body was prepared for burial. The fragrant oil rubbed into this stone carries the scent of ancient burial spices.
Station 14: Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
The Edicule shrine encloses the empty tomb where Jesus was buried and resurrected. This final station completes the Via Dolorosa journey with the good news of Easter morning.
The Via Dolorosa is definitely one of the:
