Hace 10 años durante el mes de octubre
en el marco de nuestra primera visita a Nigeria y también primer paso por Europa, Newen Afrobeat se presentó junto a Les Frères Smith en París, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer a los próceres del Afrobeat; Oghene Kologbo (guitarra) y al incomparable Tony Allen, co-fundador del género junto a Fela Kuti.
En esta ocasión tuvimos la bendición de compartir escenario junto a Tony Allen, invitándolo a Upside Down, el único tema que ha sido interpretado por una mujer dentro de la discografía de Fela.

Desempolvamos este registro para compartir con ustedes un poco de la energía que vivimos esa noche, la cual sigue presente hasta el día de hoy, recordando a maestros espirituales de la banda, su constante inspiración y los viajes alrededor del mundo.

Straight from the vault of memory, Tony Allen and Newen Afrobeat live at FGO Barbara, Paris, 2015

Ten years ago, during the month of October,
as part of our first visit to Nigeria and also our first trip to Europe, Newen Afrobeat performed alongside Les Freres Smith in Paris, where we had the opportunity to meet Afrobeat legends Oghene Kologbo (guitar) and the incomparable Tony Allen, co-founder of the genre with Fela Kuti.
On this occasion, we were blessed to share the stage with Tony Allen, inviting him to perform Upside Down, the only song ever performed by a woman in Fela's discography.

We're digging out this recording to share with you a glimpse of the energy we experienced that night, which remains with us to this day, remembering the band's spiritual masters, their constant inspiration, and their travels around the world. 🌎
