19 Martyrs in One Strike: Mahmoud Al-Khatib's Testimony from Gaza

In this episode of Witness Talk, we sit with Mahmoud Al-Khatib, a Palestinian father whose life was shattered on October 23rd, 2023. In a single airstrike on a home in Rafah, a city that was supposed to be the safest zone in Gaza, Mahmoud lost his pregnant wife, his three-year-old daughter Sabah, and his unborn son who was only days away from being born. Nineteen members of his wife's family were killed that night. His seven-year-old son Kareem was the only child to survive, pulled from under the rubble after two hours, injured and alone.

Mahmoud speaks about the impossible task of comforting Kareem while grieving himself, of never finding the space to release his own pain, of living between a hospital and a hotel room in Turkey as his son receives treatment for wounds that go deeper than skin.
