Not a loop! Backing track with real musicians. More info:
This track is in the 8-beat iqa3 (rhythm) called Sombaty (also some other names, a similar Turkish rhythm is çiftetelli) featuring Arabic instruments and percussion as well as upright bass. You can use it to practice taqsim (Arabic improvisation) or exercises over the groove/maqam. After one time through, the track plays again so you don't have to go back if you want to try again.
This is open in the key of D (re) so you can use any maqam/scale with D/re as the tonic (qarar). Examples:
Hijaz: D Eb F# G A Bb (or B1/2b) C D
Bayati: D E1/2b F G A Bb (or B1/2b) C D
Saba: D E1/2b F Gb A Bb C Db
Kurd: D Eb F G A Bb C D
Saba Zamzam: D Eb F Gb A Bb C Db
Nahawand/Buselik: D E F G A Bb C (or C#) D
Ajam: D E F# G A B C# D
Nikriz: D E F G# A B C D
Nawa Athar: D E F G# A Bb C# D
Featured instruments are qanun, riq and derbekke (aka doumbek). I made this with real musicians so it feels more organic compared to playing with programmed drums. The feel and intensity of the backing varies over time so it's hopefully more inspiring than a static loop.
I've made a bunch of these and will upload more if there's enough interest - let me know in the comments and of course like & subscribe!
