Kubernetes 1.35 has just been released, and it comes with some important updates for production, AI workloads, and cluster operations :
Let’s quickly look at the main highlights :
In-place Pod resource updates (GA):
“You can now update CPU and memory on running Pods without restarting them — enabling true zero-downtime vertical scaling.”
Gang Scheduling (Alpha):
“This improves support for batch and AI workloads by scheduling related Pods together when resources are available.”
Pod Certificates (Beta):
“Kubernetes introduces native workload identities with built-in certificates, making zero-trust pod-to-pod communication easier.”
Node Declared Features (Alpha):
“Nodes can now explicitly declare their capabilities, allowing more accurate scheduling decisions.”
Numeric taint tolerations:
“Tolerations can now use numeric comparisons, giving more control over where Pods can run.”
There are also a few important platform changes to be aware of:
cgroup v1 support has been removed — cgroup v2 is now required.
IPVS proxy mode is officially deprecated.
