Why does the black belt in Jiu Jitsu command so much respect?
We see celebrities, business moguls, cultural icons, and other powerful people training Jiu Jitsu, and having reverence for the black belt.
Why?
Largely, it’s because Jiu Jitsu is rooted in TRUTH- and the skill and mental fortitude can’t be bought.
It’s also obvious to anyone who’s taken even one class that the journey to black demands and cultivates certain attributes- grit, determination, humility, honesty, courage, and more- and we hold these attributes in high regard.
Does wearing a black belt mean you’re perfect? No, but it’s certainly a mark of distinction.
